J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!

The New York Jets are an NFL franchise that is located in Florham park, New Jersey and represent the New York metropolitan area. The Jets are members of the Eastern division of the AFC (American Football Conference) and share MetLife Stadium with the New York Giants.

The Jets were founded in 1959 and were known as the Titans of New York in the American Football League. The Jets later became an NFL franchise when the AFL and NFL merger took place. The team began to play in 1960 at the Polo Grounds. It was until 1963 when the Titans of New York became the New York Jets and the franchise was re located to Shea Stadium in 1964 and then to Meadowlands Sports Complex Stadium in 1984.

The New York Jets only championship came in 1968 where they went on to defeat the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III. That was the first time an AFL franchise defeated an NFL franchise in a world title game. Quarterback Joe Namath said before the game that he'd "guarantee a win over the Colts" and thats exactly what happened. Throughout the years the Jets have made the playoffs 13 times and the AFC Championship 4 times. Although the Jets haven't made it back to the Super Bowl, they will always be remembered for their performance in Super Bowl III. The Jets have had many great players along the way but quarterback Joe Namath seems to be the most memorable.
Joe Namath or "Broadway Joe" played his college football at the University of Alabama and played for the New York Jets for most of his pro career. He is remembered for his performance in one of the greatest upsets ever in Super Bowl III. Namath lead the underdog Jets to a 16-7 win over one of the most prestigious coaches in NFL history Don Shula. Namath not only guaranteed a win over the Colts but also won MVP of Super Bowl III. Shula later stated that Namath was "one of the three smartest quarterbacks of all time." Namath also was the first quarterback to throw for more than 4,000 yards during a 14 game season. Namath was more than just a football player, he was also New York's "playboy" because he was always involved with the media!
The Jets may not have a lot of history to rave about but they are a franchise with value. The Jets even have their own "chant" when they start a game or score a touchdown,
"J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!"
